About 10 years ago I got this mirror from my mom. I can't remember if we got it at a garage sale or DI. I'd say Garage Sale because the madre is an uber garage saler. We thought it looked just like the mirror mirror on the wall. I used it in my little girls room when she was younger, but as she's gotten older and my tastes have changed I just stored it and didn't use it. Well I got this crazy idea. (ok not crazy just brilliant...that is me tooting my own horn) I would paint it and glaze it. Check out the before and after.
These are just picture showing the detail around the mirror. LOVE IT
I turned the mirror over and unscrewed the mirror and just took it out. Easy. I thought it would be way easier than trying to tape and paper everything.
The mirror is ready for priming.
I primed it with kilz. One thing to remember shake this for about 2 minutes. Then it goes on smooth. (I will post a picture of the actual kilz I use at the bottom of this)
Painted it with Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze. It is such a pretty color. Make sure you paint on the sides as well and really well in the nooks and crannies.
Let's Glaze baby. Remember do it as thick or not as you seem fit. Then wipe off what you want.
It's beautiful. This is going to go perfect in my 10 year old's room. She'll love it. With all of her gray and turquoise.
Let me know what you think. Leave me some comments here peeps.
